CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Harlem Hospital Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Great hospital, best we can, limited resources for optimal care including supplies, machines, and staffing.
Overall, the nurse feels that the quality of care in their hospital is good, but wishes they could do more.
It's a great place, like a one-stop shop, with all specialties. Exceptional care is provided to our patients.
It's okay, but could be better. Amazing travelers, but problematic long term staff.
"I'd be good in my ICU, but med-surg floors have high turnover rate. MedSurg nurses lack comprehensive care, history knowledge. Don't want family in towers due to safety."
Culture of safety is top priority, best in area; would choose prestigious hospital for surgery without hesitation.
Variable quality of care, some doctors untrustworthy.
Good place for care, trust the physicians and nursing staff, would recommend to family, comfortable letting them care for me.
Quality of care declined recently.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Harlem Hospital Center is a facility that provides healthcare services to patients in New York City. In reviewing the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, it is important to note that the overall patient satisfaction at this hospital is low. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs and communication about their discharge and follow-up instructions. Additionally, there have been notable difficulties with transitions between departments within the hospital. In terms of mortality rates, Harlem Hospital Center is deemed average for all measurements. The hospital's emergency department has an average wait time of 2-3 hours, and patients are seen and treated within that timeframe. On the other hand, the hospital has room for improvement when it comes to treating conditions such as heart failure and pneumonia to prevent patients from having to return to the hospital. Despite these shortcomings, Harlem Hospital Center excels in ensuring that patients do not acquire infections during their stay.
