CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Auburn Community Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.

Limited services, specialized areas best, but not for having a baby due to lack of maternity specialist.

Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.

Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.

The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.

Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

Good hospital, no problem with someone going, not as advanced in technology, environment needs updating.

Good care after ER, but CNAs lack motivation, low morale, and provide subpar care without seeming to care.

Good care, great nurses, but policies need improvement. Challenging finding them; better accessibility needed for prompt access.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Auburn Community Hospital has received very low overall patient satisfaction. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs, as well as communication about their medications. Additionally, patients have expressed concerns regarding the cleanliness of the hospital and have reported difficulties with transitions between departments. Furthermore, the hospital has a long average ER wait time of over 3 hours for patients to be seen and treated. While the hospital does an exceptional job of ensuring patients at the hospital do not get infections, it does not perform well in treating conditions like heart failure to prevent patients from having to return to the hospital.
