CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Kings County Hospital Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

"For ER, great nurses and excellent doctors. But for floor care, it varies depending on the unit and nurse."

We provide good care, but sometimes lack sufficient CNAs.

100% commitment to patients, amazing teamwork, not feeling alone, always room for improvement.

Legacy Emanuel is recommended for family members, good outcomes with sick patients; trust in providers. Good with trauma patients, neuro trauma care. Not recommended for cancer patients.

Highly recommend hospital. Personal experience with quality care for special needs son. Level 1 trauma hospital with expertise and resources.

Emanuel is the best hospital for all healthcare needs; I send my own family here.

Hit or miss with quality of care, standard workflow and level not always great. Speak up for yourself or have someone who can. At Kaiser, focus is not truly understanding and solving patient's problems, priority is quick diagnosis and treatment.

Great care, but wouldn't recommend ER for family. Need to be a strong advocate. Lot of traveling/new nurses.

Highly knowledgeable, kind nurses willing to go the extra mile; I would definitely recommend our hospital.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Based on CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Kings County Hospital Center demonstrates low overall patient satisfaction. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs, as well as difficulties in communication about their discharge and follow-up instructions. The hospital's mortality rates are average across all measured categories, and it experiences a long emergency room wait time, with an average of over 3 hours for patients to be seen and treated. Unfortunately, the hospital does not excel in effectively treating conditions like pneumonia to prevent patients from having to return to the hospital. However, it does perform above-average in ensuring that patients at the hospital do not acquire infections.
