CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overall, the nurse does not recommend the ED due to issues and disagrees about referring loved ones because of the quality of care.

Good hospital, no problem with someone going, not as advanced in technology, environment needs updating.

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

Good care after ER, but CNAs lack motivation, low morale, and provide subpar care without seeming to care.

ICU care great, but care suffers after downgrade. Best care in the ICU, nobody wants to be there.

Quality of care varies depending on staff. ER can be challenging, but cardiology team provides excellent care. MedSurg floors can be rough, with potential for things to be overlooked if not severely ill.

Good care, great nurses, but policies need improvement. Challenging finding them; better accessibility needed for prompt access.

Quality of care is very good, not outstanding. Some staff members seem inadequately trained, but teamwork, cohesiveness, and management support are outstanding.

Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital's quality of care, as indicated by CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, presents some noteworthy points. The overall patient satisfaction at the hospital is low. Patients have reported instances where the care team was slow in meeting their needs. Challenges have also been expressed regarding communication about medications. In terms of the emergency department, the hospital's average wait time is within the expected range, with patients being seen and treated in an average of 2-3 hours. However, the hospital does not fare well in treating conditions such as pneumonia to prevent readmissions. Additionally, the hospital struggles with high infection rates.
