CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Nassau University Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
"Tell them to run. Go somewhere else. Maybe try Covenant."
Quality of care is not satisfactory due to shortage of nurses. I would not recommend coming here.
Hardworking staff, but apparent staffing issues; patients feel rushed, lack downtime, and may have delayed assistance.
Care generally good, but challenges with staffing shortages make it difficult to reach staff, especially for seriously ill patients.
Hospital care poor. Wouldn't recommend. Understaffed. Administration doesn't care. Overwhelming number of patients makes it difficult to provide proper care.
Quality of care comparable to other hospitals in Kansas City, but not my top pick due to staffing issues.
Reservations about care quality, uncomfortable bringing family, residents still learning, physicians don't listen, not enough time to educate, shortages, concerned about safety.
Not recommending hospital, ED unit lacking, insufficient patient care.
I would recommend this hospital for good quality care; I have worked and been a patient here.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Nassau University Medical Center exhibits several areas for improvement in their patient ratings and quality data. The overall patient satisfaction is notably low, with patients reporting challenges with nurse communication, staff responsiveness to their needs, and communication about medications, discharge, and follow-up instructions. Transitions between departments are also reported as challenging. Patients express concerns with their ability to have quiet rest in the hospital. While the hospital maintains an average emergency room wait time of 2-3 hours, it does not excel in treating conditions such as heart failure and pneumonia with the aim of preventing readmissions.
