CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Albany Medical Center Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Excellent quality of care with skilled team, teamwork, collaboration, and adequate staff including residents, interns, and nursing students.

Overall, the hospital is doing a good job and worth mentioning that it is now a teaching hospital for doctors.

Great teamwork, passionate staff, improved care with hospitalists, better communication, accessible doctors, and flexible availability.

Quality of care varies, challenging on busy days. Staffing improved but still need more trained nurses and doctors in pediatrics.

I would recommend this hospital for good quality care; I have worked and been a patient here.

Quality of care depends on doctor and nurse, bad ones leave you out of luck, same for any hospital.

Varied experiences across departments.

Doing their best with limited resources, but some nurses don't care. Advocate for your family member or pull the nurse card. Mixed recommendations.

Hospital good overall, staffing problem. Cardiology has best cardiac team. Nervous about quality of care in med surg units.

Advise seeking care elsewhere due to doctor turnover. Recommend going to KU.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Albany Medical Center Hospital has been found to have low overall patient satisfaction, with patients reporting that the care team can be slow at times in meeting their needs. Concerns have also been raised regarding the cleanliness of the hospital and the ability for patients to have quiet rest while staying there. The hospital has a lengthy average ER wait time, with patients waiting over 3 hours to be seen and treated. Additionally, the hospital does not perform well in treating conditions such as heart attacks and pneumonia, leading to patients having to return for further treatment. However, it is worth noting that the hospital excels in ensuring patients are not affected by infections during their stay.
