CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Northern Navajo Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.

Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.

Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.

Emergency Dept recommended for better care, floor nurses less welcoming due to heavy patient load.

Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.

Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.

"I would prefer them to go to Dameron. Honestly, I would have them come because I would be there. There are nurses I would trust with my family."

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

The nursing staff is incredible, but the lack of resources and physician availability would influence my opinion on Menorah.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Northern Navajo Medical Center has an average overall patient satisfaction rating, according to CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. Patients have mentioned that the care team may be slow in meeting their needs. The hospital's mortality rates are found to be average across all measured aspects. However, it is worth noting that the hospital faces challenges in controlling infection rates, which remain high.
