CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Lovelace Women's Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

"I would prefer them to go to Dameron. Honestly, I would have them come because I would be there. There are nurses I would trust with my family."

Great teamwork, but staffing ratios are a downside. Good doctors and nurses. Would recommend for family members.

Good hospital, no problem with someone going, not as advanced in technology, environment needs updating.

Providence Hospital: Large facility with a sense of community care. I would feel confident receiving care here.

Depends on the care needed, but for general illnesses, we provide good care; specialized treatment should be sought elsewhere.

Lack of resources, outdated technology, ineffective training - wouldn't recommend this hospital.

Decline in hospital quality since Adventist Health took over, more confident in ICU, depends on loved one's unit.

Highly recommend my hospital; strong surgical team in orthopedic and urology specialties, but cardio patients get transferred.

Not a very nice hospital, but ER doctors are good. Nursing care can be inconsistent, working on improving.

It's okay, but could be better. Amazing travelers, but problematic long term staff.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Lovelace Women's Hospital has received low overall patient satisfaction ratings, with patients reporting significant challenges in staff responsiveness to their needs. Communication about medications also poses challenges for patients, as well as transitions between different departments within the hospital. Concerns have been raised regarding the cleanliness of the hospital, and patients reported difficulties in obtaining quiet rest. In terms of mortality rates, the hospital performs at an average level in every measured category. It is important to note that the hospital has a long wait time in the Emergency Room, with patients typically waiting over 3 hours to be seen and treated.
