CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

"I would prefer them to go to Dameron. Honestly, I would have them come because I would be there. There are nurses I would trust with my family."

Quality of care good, limited specialties, ask about medical needs before recommending, proud of nurses and physicians.

Don't go to Dameron, policies and processes are not well put together, staff is unhappy, management doesn't pay attention to teams.

Depends on the care needed, but for general illnesses, we provide good care; specialized treatment should be sought elsewhere.

There are areas for improvement, good community hospital overall, but for critical issues, seek treatment elsewhere.

Limited specialties, recommend bigger hospitals for specific needs, transfer and wait for beds sometimes.

I would definitely recommend my friends and neighbors to come here for both elective and emergency care because we're pretty good.

Culture of safety is top priority, best in area; would choose prestigious hospital for surgery without hesitation.

Confident in bringing adult loved ones, but iffy about MedSurg unit due to overworked nurses and inconsistent care.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

According to CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Eastern New Mexico Medical Center demonstrates several areas for improvement in terms of the quality of care provided. Patient satisfaction is notably low, with reported challenges in nurse communication and staff responsiveness to patient needs. Patients also face difficulties receiving clear communication regarding their medications and experience significant challenges during transitions between hospital departments. Additionally, concerns are raised regarding the hospital's cleanliness, and patients expressed concerns about being able to have a quiet rest. The hospital's measured mortality rates are average across all categories. Furthermore, there is a considerable wait time in the Emergency Room, with patients typically waiting over three hours before receiving treatment. Overall, Eastern New Mexico Medical Center should focus on addressing these areas of concern to improve the quality of care provided to patients.
