CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Alta Vista Regional Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.

Depends on reason for care, aware of patient needs, advise against if necessary care not provided, multiple factors involved.

The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.

Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.

Highly recommend hospital, especially cardiology department. Shortage of staff, but not as dire as it seems.

Great nurses, poor management, staffing issues, recommend other hospitals, lack of specialty doctors.

Great hospital that cares for employees, provides good benefits, and stands out in their commitment to quality care.

Good care, recommend St. Luke's for accommodating patients, no discharge without proper follow-up.

Good hospital, not recommended for ED due to lack of support staff. Other hospitals have more resources for safe patient care.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Alta Vista Regional Hospital exhibits average conditions in regards to its measured mortality rates, neither excelling nor falling behind in this aspect. However, the hospital does encounter challenges with extended waiting periods in its Emergency Room, with patients typically waiting for over 3 hours before receiving medical attention. Additionally, Alta Vista Regional Hospital faces difficulties in maintaining low infection rates, indicating a struggle in this area.
