CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Bayshore Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Good quality care but shortage of doctors on the night shift; overall, we do well.

Staffing is inadequate, mostly composed of new grads, and experienced nurses are leaving, raising doubts about their skills.

Quality of nurses decreased, recommend St. Joseph's, staffing and management issues, struggles on medical-surgical floor, inefficient transfers for neuro patients.

Quality of care varies depending on staff. ER can be challenging, but cardiology team provides excellent care. MedSurg floors can be rough, with potential for things to be overlooked if not severely ill.

Depends on the care needed, but for general illnesses, we provide good care; specialized treatment should be sought elsewhere.

There are areas for improvement, good community hospital overall, but for critical issues, seek treatment elsewhere.

Don't go to Dameron, policies and processes are not well put together, staff is unhappy, management doesn't pay attention to teams.

Nursing care exceptional; quality of overall care dependent on assigned provider.

Perform high-quality care, but expect long wait times. Nice ICU, good team of physicians, surgeons, and providers. Overall, really good job.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Bayshore Medical Center provides average overall patient satisfaction and demonstrates average performance in every measured mortality rate. The hospital maintains an average emergency room wait time, with patients typically seen and treated within 2-3 hours. However, Bayshore Medical Center struggles to effectively treat conditions such as heart failure and pneumonia, resulting in a higher likelihood of patients having to return to the hospital. Despite these challenges, the hospital excels in implementing infection prevention measures, ensuring that patients are less likely to contract infections while receiving care at the facility.
