CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Variable quality of care, some doctors untrustworthy.
Advise seeking care elsewhere due to doctor turnover. Recommend going to KU.
Truly exceptional care, hardworking team, life-saving efforts, amazing unity.
It's a great place, like a one-stop shop, with all specialties. Exceptional care is provided to our patients.
Overall, the nurse feels that the quality of care in their hospital is good, but wishes they could do more.
Truman is preferred due to its smaller size, allowing for a more personal experience compared to the larger KU hospital.
Quality of care is excellent; exceptional care is provided in the women's service line.
Very busy hospital, but does a good job taking care of patients. Constant growth with full rooms, sometimes wait for ER beds. Superior labor and delivery, NICU, and women's care compared to another facility.
Quality of care varies based on factors including stress level, patient load, and staffing; sometimes we have 5-6 patients.

Depends on specific service. Certain doctors recommended for surgery, others advised against. Limited knowledge on other services. Proud of our small community hospital, but recommend KU campus for oncology.
Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Centrastate Medical Center, as indicated by CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, has shown some areas for improvement in terms of patient satisfaction and wait times. Patients have reported that their needs are at times not promptly met by the care team. Additionally, the wait time in the emergency room is relatively long, with an average duration of over 3 hours for patients to be seen and treated. Moreover, the hospital's performance in treating conditions such as heart failure and pneumonia, resulting in readmissions, appears to be subpar. However, the hospital excels in preventing infections among its patients, ensuring a high level of infection control. Overall, these objective measures highlight areas where Centrastate Medical Center can focus on improving the quality of care provided.
