CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Clara Maass Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

I believe Centerpoint hospital has been working hard to improve its reputation; I would definitely recommend it.

Truly exceptional care, hardworking team, life-saving efforts, amazing unity.

Definitely encourage my family to come here. Quality care is really good, excellent doctors.

"Tell them to run. Go somewhere else. Maybe try Covenant."

Better seek care elsewhere. Staffing issues, overwhelmed staff, unable to establish connection with patients.

Quality of care is not satisfactory due to shortage of nurses. I would not recommend coming here.

Doing their best with limited resources, but some nurses don't care. Advocate for your family member or pull the nurse card. Mixed recommendations.

Quality of care at the hospital is a 5/10; provider-dependent. Some are knowledgeable and provide great care, others, especially new grads, may not. Pandemic exposed weaknesses, need proper fixes.

Some departments provide better care, but my department is run well. There are often issues with understaffing and past errors.

Quality of care depends on doctor and nurse, bad ones leave you out of luck, same for any hospital.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Clara Maass Medical Center is a hospital that offers healthcare services to patients. Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, it is important to note a few key points regarding the quality of care at this facility. The overall patient satisfaction is reported to be low, with some patients experiencing delays in having their needs met by the care team. The hospital has average measured mortality rates across different conditions. However, one area of concern is the long wait time in the emergency room, with patients waiting for over 3 hours on average before being seen and treated. Additionally, the hospital does not excel in effectively treating conditions such as heart failure and pneumonia, resulting in some patients needing to return for further care. However, it should be highlighted that the hospital performs above the average in ensuring that patients do not contract infections during their stay.
