CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Panola Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Amazing care, amazing staff. Great discussions with physicians. High level of care and attention. Unable to do certain procedures.

Limited services. Room for improvement. Not recommended. Great for Strokes and ICU, but not ER.

Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.

Emergency Dept recommended for better care, floor nurses less welcoming due to heavy patient load.

Quality of care good, but understaffed like all hospitals.

Highly recommend hospital, especially cardiology department. Shortage of staff, but not as dire as it seems.

Decent quality of care in our hospital.

Unsafe, understaffed, business-focused. Recommend the Plaza, better care, staffing ratios the same, residents, fellows, attending physicians at Barnes Jewish.

The nursing staff is incredible, but the lack of resources and physician availability would influence my opinion on Menorah.

Excellent care from coworkers, but not enough time for each patient. Common challenge in healthcare. Committed to doing our best.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Panola Medical Center demonstrates average performance in key areas of care. The hospital's mortality rates are comparable to other healthcare facilities, indicating an average level of patient safety and outcomes. The emergency room wait time at Panola Medical Center is also reported to be average, with patients typically being seen and treated within 2-3 hours. However, it is important to note that the hospital faces challenges concerning high infection rates, which may require further attention and improvement efforts.
