CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Cook Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.
The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.
Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.
Limited services, specialized areas best, but not for having a baby due to lack of maternity specialist.
Exceptional compassion towards patients and families. Highly recommend St. Joseph hospital for loved ones, dedicated to addressing concerns.
Recommended for cardiac events, but limitations in resources can cause delays, particularly for non-cardiac cases. Top-rated for cardiac care in Kansas City.
Hospitals aren't what you think they are, the reality is quite complex.
Trust the quality of care, feel safe here receiving treatment in our hospital.
"Not recommended. Quality of care lacking, unsure if due to younger/newer staff or specific training."

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Cook Hospital exhibits an average level of care across various parameters. The hospital's mortality rates indicate an average performance compared to other healthcare providers. Furthermore, the hospital demonstrates an average emergency room (ER) wait time, with patients typically being seen and treated within 2-3 hours on average. These findings suggest that Cook Hospital maintains a satisfactory level of care and efficiency in attending to patients' needs in a timely manner.
