CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overall, the hospital is doing a good job and worth mentioning that it is now a teaching hospital for doctors.

Reservations about care quality, uncomfortable bringing family, residents still learning, physicians don't listen, not enough time to educate, shortages, concerned about safety.

St. Joseph's is a good hospital despite some unfavorable experiences, with sometimes malfunctioning equipment causing upset amongst patients.

Our hospital provides good care with a dedicated nursing staff despite limited resources.

Unsafe practices, old and disconnected systems, poor safety practices. Don't go there, I wouldn't refer my loved ones to Dameron Hospital.

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

Good care, but depends on the individual.

"I'd be good in my ICU, but med-surg floors have high turnover rate. MedSurg nurses lack comprehensive care, history knowledge. Don't want family in towers due to safety."

Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.

Highly recommend my hospital; strong surgical team in orthopedic and urology specialties, but cardio patients get transferred.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester has received high overall patient satisfaction ratings, indicating a positive experience for patients. Nurses are reported to have excellent communication with patients, and staff members are praised for responding quickly to patient needs. Patients have also mentioned that their needs are promptly met by the hospital staff. The hospital is recognized for maintaining a quiet atmosphere, which is appreciated by patients. However, it is worth noting that the emergency room wait time is longer than average, with patients waiting over 3 hours to be seen and treated. Despite this, the hospital shows proficiency in treating conditions such as heart attacks and heart failure, effectively reducing the need for patients to return for further treatment. Additionally, the hospital excels in ensuring that patients are not susceptible to infections during their stay.
