CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Mclaren Port Huron but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

Our hospital provides good care with a dedicated nursing staff despite limited resources.

Overall, the nurse does not recommend the ED due to issues and disagrees about referring loved ones because of the quality of care.

Good care after ER, but CNAs lack motivation, low morale, and provide subpar care without seeming to care.

Mostly comfortable, excel in cardiology, majority of hospitalists are excellent, lack expertise in certain specialties, ICU's care and knowledge level needs improvement, young nurses lack experience.

Lack of resources, outdated technology, ineffective training - wouldn't recommend this hospital.

Staffing is inadequate, mostly composed of new grads, and experienced nurses are leaving, raising doubts about their skills.

Decline in hospital quality since Adventist Health took over, more confident in ICU, depends on loved one's unit.

Highly skilled and dedicated medical staff, definitely recommend hospital for loved ones, especially in the Emergency Department.

I would definitely recommend my friends and neighbors to come here for both elective and emergency care because we're pretty good.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Mclaren Port Huron provides an average overall patient satisfaction experience based on CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. While the hospital excels in ensuring patients do not acquire infections, it is important to note that the hospital experiences a lengthy wait time in the emergency department, with patients having to wait for over 3 hours on average before receiving treatment.
