CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.

Amazing care, amazing staff. Great discussions with physicians. High level of care and attention. Unable to do certain procedures.
Exceptional compassion towards patients and families. Highly recommend St. Joseph hospital for loved ones, dedicated to addressing concerns.
Recommended for cardiac events, but limitations in resources can cause delays, particularly for non-cardiac cases. Top-rated for cardiac care in Kansas City.
Overall, good job, caring nurses, lack of medical oversight impacting care quality.
Quality of care is average to above average.
Trust the quality of care, feel safe here receiving treatment in our hospital.
The nursing staff is incredible, but the lack of resources and physician availability would influence my opinion on Menorah.

Not recommend for all family, but good overall. Top cardiology surgeon. Recommend specific unit. Coworkers welcoming. Solid staff. Manager and peers are supportive. Tricky location. High drug overdose and homeless population.
Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Spectrum Health United Hospital demonstrates high overall patient satisfaction, as indicated by CMS HCAHPS patient ratings. In terms of mortality rates, the hospital performs at an average level across measured metrics. The ER wait time is also within the average range, with patients typically being seen and treated within a timeframe of 2-3 hours. However, the hospital does not effectively treat conditions such as heart failure, resulting in a higher likelihood of patients needing to return. On the other hand, Spectrum Health United Hospital excels in the treatment of conditions like pneumonia, effectively preventing patients from needing to come back for further care. It is worth noting that the hospital confronts challenges concerning high infection rates.
