CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Holy Family Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Hospital care poor. Wouldn't recommend. Understaffed. Administration doesn't care. Overwhelming number of patients makes it difficult to provide proper care.

Quality of care comparable to other hospitals in Kansas City, but not my top pick due to staffing issues.

Quality of care at the hospital is a 5/10; provider-dependent. Some are knowledgeable and provide great care, others, especially new grads, may not. Pandemic exposed weaknesses, need proper fixes.

Some departments provide better care, but my department is run well. There are often issues with understaffing and past errors.

Great teamwork, passionate staff, improved care with hospitalists, better communication, accessible doctors, and flexible availability.

Exemplary care; competent nurses and doctors. I would choose St. Joseph for receiving care.

"Extraordinary care in north tower. Patients on other floors don't receive the same level. DHR is the best hospital."

Truly good hospital with quality care; I would definitely encourage them to come.

"Tell them to run. Go somewhere else. Maybe try Covenant."

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Holy Family Hospital exhibits areas for improvement in patient satisfaction and meeting patient needs in a timely manner. The hospital's overall patient satisfaction is relatively low, with patients reporting that the care team can be slow in addressing their needs. In terms of mortality rates, the hospital performs at an average level across all measured categories. Furthermore, Holy Family Hospital experiences extended emergency room wait times, with patients waiting for over 3 hours on average to be seen and treated. While the hospital does not excel in treating conditions like heart attacks to prevent readmissions, it does exceptionally well in preventing infections among its patients.
