CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Maine General Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Our care is great despite declining healthcare, with better staffing ratio and necessary resources. Not all rainbows and fairytales.
Highly recommend hospital, no hesitation sending family here. Quality of care definitely above average.
Exceptional care. Incredibly strong nurses. Genuine care. Saint Luke's on the Plaza cannot match the quality of care. East is unmatched.
Excellent care provided to patients, mostly.
You'll get quick and efficient treatment for urgent care, but less severe issues may have a wait time. Admission might mean 12-24 hours in the Emergency Department.
Overall, excellent care in LD, unsure about other areas. Close to home, good community hospital.
Highly skilled staff and expertise in doctors make Portland Adventist a top choice for quality care.
Quality of care is good overall, but varies by unit.
Lodi is a small, community hospital with personalized care and a well-rounded viewpoint, due to its diverse culture.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Maine General Medical Center has achieved high overall patient satisfaction according to the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings. The hospital consistently maintains an average level in every measured mortality rate. However, it is important to note that the hospital has a long average wait time in the emergency room, with patients waiting over 3 hours to be seen and treated. On the positive side, the hospital excels in treating conditions like pneumonia, resulting in fewer patients having to return for additional care. Additionally, the hospital stands out in its exceptional efforts to prevent infections among its patients.
