CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Mercy Hospital, Inc but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Depends on reason for care, aware of patient needs, advise against if necessary care not provided, multiple factors involved.

Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.

Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.

Great nurses, poor management, staffing issues, recommend other hospitals, lack of specialty doctors.

Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.

Highly recommend hospital, especially cardiology department. Shortage of staff, but not as dire as it seems.

Quality of care is average to above average.

Depends on the person they see.

"Not recommended. Quality of care lacking, unsure if due to younger/newer staff or specific training."

Not a very nice hospital, but ER doctors are good. Nursing care can be inconsistent, working on improving.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Mercy Hospital, Inc. has demonstrated average performance across all measured mortality rates. Additionally, the hospital stands out for its efficient emergency department, with an impressive wait and treatment time of less than 2 hours. However, it is important to note that Mercy Hospital, Inc. does not excel in effectively treating conditions such as heart failure, which leads to a higher rate of patients returning to the hospital. Furthermore, the hospital faces challenges in maintaining low infection rates. These points provide valuable insights into the quality of care provided by Mercy Hospital, Inc., allowing consumers to make informed decisions about their healthcare options.
