CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Clark Memorial Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Good hospital, no problem with someone going, not as advanced in technology, environment needs updating.

Nursing care exceptional; quality of overall care dependent on assigned provider.

Unsafe practices, old and disconnected systems, poor safety practices. Don't go there, I wouldn't refer my loved ones to Dameron Hospital.

Quality of care varies depending on staff. ER can be challenging, but cardiology team provides excellent care. MedSurg floors can be rough, with potential for things to be overlooked if not severely ill.

Lack of resources, outdated technology, ineffective training - wouldn't recommend this hospital.

ICU care great, but care suffers after downgrade. Best care in the ICU, nobody wants to be there.

Good care, great nurses, but policies need improvement. Challenging finding them; better accessibility needed for prompt access.

Good care, but depends on the individual.

Lodi hospital is really good at taking care of patients, with caring nurses who do their best to ensure the best treatment.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Clark Memorial Hospital has received low overall patient satisfaction ratings according to CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. Patients have reported that the care team at the hospital can be slow at times in meeting their needs. Additionally, the hospital's mortality rates have been found to be average across all measured categories. One area where the hospital falls short is in its long emergency room wait times, which exceed 3 hours on average for patients to be seen and treated. However, the hospital does excel at treating conditions such as heart attacks, as patients are less likely to need readmission. Conversely, the hospital does not perform well in treating conditions like pneumonia, resulting in a higher likelihood of patients needing readmission.
