CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Marshall Browning Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Excellent handling of stroke patients in the Emergency Department, but delays and lower quality care in med-surg floors.

Excellent care, 10/10. Personal experience confirms exceptional care, great staff, and high quality service at this hospital.

The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.

Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.

Great nurses, poor management, staffing issues, recommend other hospitals, lack of specialty doctors.

Limited services, specialized areas best, but not for having a baby due to lack of maternity specialist.

Hospitals aren't what you think they are, the reality is quite complex.

Decent quality of care in our hospital.

"Not recommended. Quality of care lacking, unsure if due to younger/newer staff or specific training."

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

According to the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Marshall Browning Hospital demonstrates an average performance across all measured mortality rates. While no specific insights are provided regarding the hospital's mortality rates, this information suggests that the hospital's quality of care in terms of patient outcomes aligns with the benchmark average.
