CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Humboldt Park Health but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

Don't go to Dameron, policies and processes are not well put together, staff is unhappy, management doesn't pay attention to teams.

Great teamwork, but staffing ratios are a downside. Good doctors and nurses. Would recommend for family members.

Providence Hospital: Large facility with a sense of community care. I would feel confident receiving care here.

Limited specialties, recommend bigger hospitals for specific needs, transfer and wait for beds sometimes.

Quality of care varies depending on staff. ER can be challenging, but cardiology team provides excellent care. MedSurg floors can be rough, with potential for things to be overlooked if not severely ill.

Professional, efficient, confident in immediate care. Excellent transitions and collaboration with regular staff. Challenging with temporary staff, but overall seamless care.

It's okay, but could be better. Amazing travelers, but problematic long term staff.

Great learning hospital with supportive team and managers who listen to our concerns. No bad experiences except COVID.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Humboldt Park Health has received mixed patient feedback in terms of quality of care. Patient satisfaction levels are low, with significant challenges reported in terms of staff responsiveness to their needs and transitions between hospital departments. Concerns have also been raised regarding the ability to have a quiet rest in the hospital. In terms of mortality rates, the hospital performs at an average level across all measured categories. However, the hospital's emergency room wait times are on par with the national average, with patients typically being seen and treated within 2-3 hours. While the hospital falls short in treating conditions like heart failure to prevent readmissions, it does perform above average in preventing infections among patients.
