CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Riverside Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overwhelmed staff on regular med surge floors, would prefer sending family to another hospital, due to insufficient staffing.

Quality of care depends on specific floors, recommend going where trust in care provided.

Good hospital, caring doctors, competent nurses. Prefer over other hospitals. Some downsides, but Olathe tries to accommodate.

Some good care, but seek care elsewhere at times. Good for quick help in trauma situations, but cardiac doctors prioritize revenue and don't always consider patient needs. Fast doctor, but poor outcomes.

Very busy hospital, but does a good job taking care of patients. Constant growth with full rooms, sometimes wait for ER beds. Superior labor and delivery, NICU, and women's care compared to another facility.

Quality of care is excellent; exceptional care is provided in the women's service line.

Quality of care varies based on factors including stress level, patient load, and staffing; sometimes we have 5-6 patients.

Quality of care not good. Severely short-staffed. Hinders ability to provide adequate nursing care. Difficult patient staffing ratios.

Recommended for cardiac care and having a baby, but concerns about GI care, suggesting to consider other options for general surgery.

Would recommend for Ed, doctors knowledgeable, attending involved. Inpatient setting lacks resources, nurses burned out, semi-private rooms.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Riverside Medical Center has an average overall patient satisfaction, as reported by patients themselves. Some patients have noted that the care team can be slow at times in meeting their needs. The hospital's mortality rates are average for all measured conditions. However, the hospital does experience a long emergency room wait time, with patients waiting on average over 3 hours to be seen and treated. On the positive side, the hospital excels at treating conditions like heart attacks to prevent readmissions, and it does an exceptional job of ensuring that patients at the hospital do not contract infections.
