CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Iroquois Memorial Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Very good care, small hospital, limited services, up-to-date facilities

Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.

Amazing care, amazing staff. Great discussions with physicians. High level of care and attention. Unable to do certain procedures.

Overall, good job, caring nurses, lack of medical oversight impacting care quality.

Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.

Highly recommend hospital, especially cardiology department. Shortage of staff, but not as dire as it seems.

Unsafe, understaffed, business-focused. Recommend the Plaza, better care, staffing ratios the same, residents, fellows, attending physicians at Barnes Jewish.

Great hospital that cares for employees, provides good benefits, and stands out in their commitment to quality care.

The nursing staff is incredible, but the lack of resources and physician availability would influence my opinion on Menorah.

Quality of care good, limited specialties, ask about medical needs before recommending, proud of nurses and physicians.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Based on the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, Iroquois Memorial Hospital demonstrates average performance in various aspects of care. The hospital's mortality rates fall within the average range, indicating comparable outcomes to other healthcare facilities. As for the emergency department, patients in need of urgent medical attention can expect to be seen and treated within a reasonable timeframe, with an average wait time of 2-3 hours. However, the hospital faces challenges in maintaining low infection rates, suggesting room for improvement in this area. It is important for patients to be aware of these factors when considering the quality of care at Iroquois Memorial Hospital.
