CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Pekin Memorial Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Exceptional compassion towards patients and families. Highly recommend St. Joseph hospital for loved ones, dedicated to addressing concerns.

Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.

Emergency Dept recommended for better care, floor nurses less welcoming due to heavy patient load.

Excellent care, 10/10. Personal experience confirms exceptional care, great staff, and high quality service at this hospital.

Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.

Depends on reason for care, aware of patient needs, advise against if necessary care not provided, multiple factors involved.

"I would prefer them to go to Dameron. Honestly, I would have them come because I would be there. There are nurses I would trust with my family."

Depends on what they're looking for. Strong CT, cardiothoracic program. AHA-certified with stroke treatments, but all done via telehealth. Uncomfortable with Stanford consultations. Not for pediatrics.

ICU care great, but care suffers after downgrade. Best care in the ICU, nobody wants to be there.

Quality is good at times, but staffing issues are decreasing overall care quality.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Pekin Memorial Hospital demonstrates average overall patient satisfaction based on CMS HCAHPS patient ratings. The hospital's measured mortality rates are also at an average level across various conditions. Patients visiting the hospital's Emergency Room experience an average wait time of 2-3 hours, where they are promptly seen and treated. Notably, the hospital excels in treating conditions such as pneumonia, effectively minimizing the need for patients to return for further care. However, Pekin Memorial Hospital faces challenges in maintaining optimal infection rates.
