CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Always recommend Covenant. Excellent care, praised by patients and family members. Chose to work here due to great teamwork.

100% commitment to patients, amazing teamwork, not feeling alone, always room for improvement.

Excellent care, well staffed.

Legacy Emanuel: overall recommended, outlying hospitals inconsistent, violence-prone population, witnessed safety disasters, encounters with individuals carrying weapons, improving safety measures.

Legacy Emanuel is recommended for family members, good outcomes with sick patients; trust in providers. Good with trauma patients, neuro trauma care. Not recommended for cancer patients.

Overall care is great, but challenging due to new nurses and grads. More knowledge needed, experience is key.

Understaffed, heavy workload, quality of care affected, delayed meals, inability to turn patients, delayed bathing, less attention given.

Quality of care declining, not recommended for loved ones. Suggest OHSU instead.

Hospitals suffer from inadequate staffing, overwhelming physicians, and a high turnover rate among young nurses. Change is needed.

It's really good, my favorite. Nurses take patient care seriously, collaborate, monitor fetal heart rate, prioritize concerns, and include patients in decision-making.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

St Johns Hospital has an average overall patient satisfaction rating. However, the hospital has multiple concerns regarding high patient mortality rates. Additionally, patients experience long wait times in the emergency room, with an average waiting time of over 3 hours for initial assessment and treatment. Although the hospital excels in preventing infections among its patients, it does not perform well in effectively treating conditions like heart failure, resulting in a higher readmission rate.
