CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Maui Memorial Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Quality of care varies based on factors including stress level, patient load, and staffing; sometimes we have 5-6 patients.
Great care, but lacking due to staffing and overwhelming workload. Might not be timely or as expected, due to lack of resources and availability.
Excellent care, best possible for all.
"Nurses in Manteca show greater care, unlike other hospitals where sometimes calls for help go unanswered."
Patients seen by multiple doctors within group, not followed by one doctor - something I've noticed.
Not recommended. Limited services and lack of complexity in patient care. Competent at stabilizing, but not experienced with serious illnesses.
Truman is preferred due to its smaller size, allowing for a more personal experience compared to the larger KU hospital.
Would recommend for Ed, doctors knowledgeable, attending involved. Inpatient setting lacks resources, nurses burned out, semi-private rooms.
Not recommending due to lack of designated pediatrics unit, as I've seen patients of different ages together.

I would definitely recommend my friends and neighbors to come here for both elective and emergency care because we're pretty good.
Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Maui Memorial Medical Center has an average overall patient satisfaction rating, as reported by CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. The hospital also maintains an average emergency room wait time, with patients being seen and treated within a timeframe of 2-3 hours. It does an exceptional job of implementing measures to prevent infections among its patients.
