CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Exemplary care; competent nurses and doctors. I would choose St. Joseph for receiving care.

Great teamwork, passionate staff, improved care with hospitalists, better communication, accessible doctors, and flexible availability.

Overall, the hospital is doing a good job and worth mentioning that it is now a teaching hospital for doctors.

We care for our patients well, with attentive managers. As a newer nurse, I'm still learning.

Quality of care varies, challenging on busy days. Staffing improved but still need more trained nurses and doctors in pediatrics.

Truly good hospital with quality care; I would definitely encourage them to come.

Quality of care at the hospital is a 5/10; provider-dependent. Some are knowledgeable and provide great care, others, especially new grads, may not. Pandemic exposed weaknesses, need proper fixes.

Quality of care comparable to other hospitals in Kansas City, but not my top pick due to staffing issues.

Covenant is the best local hospital for care. Patients complain about the Harrison Campus nurses.

Legacy Emanuel is recommended for family members, good outcomes with sick patients; trust in providers. Good with trauma patients, neuro trauma care. Not recommended for cancer patients.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center has received low overall patient satisfaction scores according to CMS HCAHPS patient ratings. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs, indicating possible communication and coordination issues. The hospital also has multiple significant high-patient-mortality concerns, which may raise concerns about the quality and effectiveness of medical treatments provided. Additionally, the hospital has a lengthy average emergency room wait time of over 3 hours, potentially leading to delays in patient care. Furthermore, Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center does not perform well in preventing readmissions for conditions such as heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia, indicating potential gaps in post-discharge care and management.
