CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Grady Memorial Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Not recommending hospital, ED unit lacking, insufficient patient care.

ICU is strong, received award, ED is chaotic, biggest in the area, challenging to manage.

Overall, the hospital is doing a good job and worth mentioning that it is now a teaching hospital for doctors.

Quality of care varies, challenging on busy days. Staffing improved but still need more trained nurses and doctors in pediatrics.

I would recommend this hospital for good quality care; I have worked and been a patient here.

Good quality care, highly skilled doctors, respectful treatment of staff and patients.

Great care, chaotic unit, busy, but team works tirelessly to meet everyone's needs to the best of our ability.

Understaffed but dedicated nurses strive to provide quality care despite challenging conditions, going above and beyond for patients.

"For ER, great nurses and excellent doctors. But for floor care, it varies depending on the unit and nurse."

Emanuel is the best hospital for all healthcare needs; I send my own family here.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Grady Memorial Hospital receives low overall patient satisfaction ratings according to the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs, as well as communication issues regarding their medications. Additionally, patients have experienced difficulties with transitions between departments within the hospital. The hospital's emergency room has a long wait time, with an average of over 3 hours for patients to be seen and treated. Furthermore, Grady Memorial Hospital does not excel in treating conditions like heart failure, resulting in a higher likelihood of patients having to return to the hospital. However, the hospital does perform above average in ensuring that patients do not acquire infections during their stay.
