CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Always recommend Covenant. Excellent care, praised by patients and family members. Chose to work here due to great teamwork.

Covenant is one of the best hospitals, but I have concerns about the quality of care during the COVID pandemic.

Excellent care, well staffed.

Strongly recommend hospital over others, highest level of care in emergency, critical care, and pediatrics in Portland area.

Cannot receive care here due to insurance.

Collaborative approach, good quality. Floors sometimes struggle; ICU has excellent nurse-to-patient ratios.

Great care, but wouldn't recommend ER for family. Need to be a strong advocate. Lot of traveling/new nurses.

Quality of care declining, not recommended for loved ones. Suggest OHSU instead.

St. Joseph's: kind, helpful, and caring. They treat you like family to help you get well.

Quality of care varies, challenging on busy days. Staffing improved but still need more trained nurses and doctors in pediatrics.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Emory University Hospital Midtown demonstrates overall average patient satisfaction. It is important to note, however, that the hospital faces several significant concerns regarding high patient mortality rates. Another notable factor is the hospital's extended ER wait time, with patients waiting an average of over 3 hours to receive necessary care. Additionally, Emory University Hospital Midtown struggles with effectively treating conditions such as pneumonia, resulting in higher readmission rates. Despite these challenges, the hospital does excel in preventing infections, a noteworthy strength.
