CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Quality of care needs improvement, nursing shortage, high physician turnover, focus on profit, lacking necessary equipment, issues within our hospital.

"Tell them to run. Go somewhere else. Maybe try Covenant."

People I work with are caring and professional. Concerned about staffing and patient care, advocating for safe ratios.

Quality of care in our hospital depends on specific service and unit.

Advise seeking care elsewhere due to doctor turnover. Recommend going to KU.

Definitely encourage my family to come here. Quality care is really good, excellent doctors.

Understaffed but dedicated nurses strive to provide quality care despite challenging conditions, going above and beyond for patients.

Great care, chaotic unit, busy, but team works tirelessly to meet everyone's needs to the best of our ability.

Would recommend for Ed, doctors knowledgeable, attending involved. Inpatient setting lacks resources, nurses burned out, semi-private rooms.

Some departments provide better care, but my department is run well. There are often issues with understaffing and past errors.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital has received low overall patient satisfaction ratings, indicating room for improvement in the quality of care. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs as well as communication about their medications. Moreover, there are reported difficulties in the transitions between different departments within the hospital. However, the hospital's emergency department is commendable, with a low wait and treatment time of less than 2 hours. While the hospital may struggle in treating conditions such as pneumonia to prevent readmissions, they excel in ensuring that patients at the hospital do not acquire infections.
