CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Quality of care at the hospital is a 5/10; provider-dependent. Some are knowledgeable and provide great care, others, especially new grads, may not. Pandemic exposed weaknesses, need proper fixes.

Exceptional nurses, hardworking doctors and staff, top-notch care, multitude of resources, best possible treatment. Very fortunate.

Understaffed but dedicated nurses strive to provide quality care despite challenging conditions, going above and beyond for patients.

Better seek care elsewhere. Staffing issues, overwhelmed staff, unable to establish connection with patients.

Provide excellent care despite short-staffed. Full confidence in our nurses to care for my family members.

Fantastic mental health unit, but hesitant to recommend medically.

Some departments provide better care, but my department is run well. There are often issues with understaffing and past errors.

Great teamwork, passionate staff, improved care with hospitalists, better communication, accessible doctors, and flexible availability.

Trust the quality of care, well-rounded specialties, great team, concerns about high utilization of LVNs compared to RNs.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

HCA Florida Memorial Hospital, based on CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data, has some notable points that should be considered by consumers. The hospital has received low overall patient satisfaction scores, with patients stating that the care team can be slow at times in meeting their needs. Additionally, patients reported significant challenges with transitions between departments within the hospital. In terms of mortality rates, the hospital is average across all measured categories. The average ER wait time is within the range of 2-3 hours, which is considered average. However, the hospital falls short in treating conditions such as heart attacks and heart failure, as patients tend to return to the hospital for further treatment. On the positive side, the hospital does an exceptional job in ensuring that patients do not contract infections during their stay. Overall, consumers should carefully consider these factors when evaluating the quality of care at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.
