CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

These comments are not from nurses at UF Health Shands Hospital but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Absolutely recommend for family. Great nursing team. ED always hectic, constantly busy.
Highly recommend our hospital, compared to others. Friends from nursing school working elsewhere share horror stories.
Good care, certain specialties elsewhere. Great hospitalist and pulmonary teams, but for cardiology, go to Covenant. Better ICU team at Midland.
Better for pediatrics, not ideal for burns or necrotizing fasciitis - recommended to transfer to Randles burn center.
Best in Portland area, receives higher acuity patients, better than other children's hospital, quality of care could improve due to post-pandemic strain.
Mixed feelings about hospital. State of the art with unique resources, but concerns about care from students and residents. Specialized care for rare diseases, but apprehensive for basic situations.
Strongly advise against surgical procedures at our hospital.
Better quality of care, but concerns. Unsafe staffing levels. Bring an advocate for care due to mistakes.
Not the best place, bit scary now, but will improve. Stronger compared to other hospitals, but a common problem.

One of the best hospitals I've ever worked in. The quality of care here is just awesome.
Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
UF Health Shands Hospital is revered for its high level of overall patient satisfaction. However, it is worth noting that the hospital has an extended average emergency room wait time, with patients waiting for over 3 hours to be seen and treated. Additionally, the hospital could improve its treatment of conditions such as pneumonia to prevent patients from having to return for further care. Nevertheless, in the area of infection control, UF Health Shands Hospital performs exceptionally well, going above and beyond to ensure patients at the hospital are safeguarded from infections.
