CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.
How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?
With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).
While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight
These comments are not from nurses at Shorepoint Health Punta Gorda but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.
Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.
Very comfortable for family in ER, but strongly urge going somewhere else for higher level of care.
The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.
Better care in ICU/critical care, new grads in med/surg, low staffing ratios affect quality of care.
Recommended for cardiac events, but limitations in resources can cause delays, particularly for non-cardiac cases. Top-rated for cardiac care in Kansas City.
Overall, good care, outdated facilities, competent doctors, dedicated staff, highly skilled nursing, good patient care.
Good hospital, no problem with someone going, not as advanced in technology, environment needs updating.
"I would prefer them to go to Dameron. Honestly, I would have them come because I would be there. There are nurses I would trust with my family."
Providence Hospital: Large facility with a sense of community care. I would feel confident receiving care here.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:
Shorepoint Health Punta Gorda has received a low overall patient satisfaction rating according to the CMS HCAHPS patient ratings. Patients have reported significant challenges with staff responsiveness to their needs as well as difficulties in communication about their medications. Additionally, patients have reported significant challenges with transitions between departments within the hospital. The hospital does however have an average ER wait time, with patients being seen and treated in approximately 2-3 hours. It is worth noting that the hospital has faced challenges with high infection rates.
