CareLuminate does not have nurse interviews for this hospital currently, but is estimating the Nurse Recommendation Score based on the strong relationship between patient feedback and nurse feedback.

How Does CareLuminate Estimate The Nurse Recommendation Score?

With over 1,000 nurses having participated with CareLuminate to date, we have found that the relationship between hospital patient recommendation ratings and nurse recommendation ratings is very strong (p<.001, R-squared = .42).

While the two ratings are often similar, the comments from nurses are extremely important because they show an important 'inside view' into strengths or concerns in a hospital. CareLuminate is working towards offering nurse insights into every hospital in the US.

Nurses Say it Straight

We have not started to research this hospital, but you can see what comments are for hospitals with similar patient satisfaction rates:

Nurses Say it Straight

These comments are not from nurses at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay but are instead nurse comments from hospitals with a similar size and quality ratings for illustration of what feedback from nurses at a hospital of this size and quality might be.

Overall, the nurse feels the hospital has good quality of care, a strong sense of family, and knowledge of each other. However, some departments are stronger than others, with the ER currently being the weakest.

The hospital is okay, not too bad, but challenging due to frequent staff turnover, particularly in the ED.

Very good care, small hospital, limited services, up-to-date facilities

Limited services, specialized areas best, but not for having a baby due to lack of maternity specialist.

Highly recommend hospital, especially cardiology department. Shortage of staff, but not as dire as it seems.

Quality of care good, but understaffed like all hospitals.

Hospitals aren't what you think they are, the reality is quite complex.

Unsafe, understaffed, business-focused. Recommend the Plaza, better care, staffing ratios the same, residents, fellows, attending physicians at Barnes Jewish.

"Not recommended. Quality of care lacking, unsure if due to younger/newer staff or specific training."

Perform high-quality care, but expect long wait times. Nice ICU, good team of physicians, surgeons, and providers. Overall, really good job.

Summary of Hospital-Reported Data

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requires hospitals to collect and report on hospital quality and patient satisfaction data. While the data can be dated (collected 1 to 4 years ago) the insights are an important view into hospital safety and quality. We looked through all of this data, and here is our summary of what we found:

Ascension Sacred Heart Bay has an average overall patient satisfaction rating, according to CMS HCAHPS patient ratings and quality data. Patients have reported that the care team can be slow at times in meeting their needs. The hospital is average in every measured mortality rate, indicating that patient outcomes are in line with national averages. The hospital has an average emergency room wait time, with patients typically being seen and treated within 2-3 hours. It also does a good job at treating conditions like pneumonia, minimizing the need for patients to return to the hospital. Additionally, the hospital excels at ensuring patients do not acquire infections, performing above the national average in this regard.
